High luminosity and high resolving power make it possible to: use it for various shootings when creating feature films, documentaries, sports and other films. Due to the peculiar excellent optical design, the lens gives an excellent individual picture with spectacular bokeh(see sample images).
The optical design of PO2-2 is believed to be the prototype of Leica's Noctilux.
The RO2-2M (later OKC1-75-1) 75mm 1:2 is a fast-prime lens manufactured in the KMZ (Krsnogorsk Mechanical Plant). It is designed for professional 35mm film cameras. The lens elements are chemically coated.
The RO2-2М must not be confused with the RO2-2 lens. The RO2-2M is an advanced version. The image quality is equal or superior to that of the Biotar 75mm. The RO2-2 was manufactured in Leningrad, while the RO2-2М lens was manufactured in Krasnogorsk (KMZ).
The lens is able to cover the fullframe, but with vignetting. Via adapter can be used on SLR cameras.
Resolution RO2-2M in the center 45 lines/mm, on the edge 23 lines/mm, which surpasses Helios 40 and Biotar 75 mm - center 32, on the edge 16 lines/mm.
